Green Lipped Mussel Extract

The carbohydrate components in GLME have been shown to inhibit several of the functions in the body that cause inflammation and degenerative processes in the joint cartilage.

Among the valuable mineral components naturally present in GLME are zinc, copper, boron and manganese which provide complementary anti-inflammatory properties.

Brewer's Yeast

Vitamin B complexes present in this ingredient perform a range of functions that complement those of GLME by their effects on vascular mechanisms which are also very important in the pathology of degenerative joint disease.

In addition, this yeast is a source of minerals such as selenium which provides essential anti-oxidant functions. A further and very noticeable benefit of the addition of Brewer's Yeast to the components present in SF4 is the healthy , glossy coat that dogs and cats being given SF4 will develop.

Ascorbic Acid

This is a source of Vitamin C, a valuable vitamin which in not naturally synthesised in the body. Among its other valuable properties, Vitamin C has two important functions with specific application to degenerative joint disease. One of those is that Vitamin C is a good antioxidant as oxidative stress plays a major role in pathalogical processes in the joint and antioxidant activity is important for mediating in this activity. Secondly, Vitamin C plays a role in the biosynthesis of cartilage and can thus help with the restorative processes for the maintenance of joint health.

Kelp Extract

Kelp is an excellent source of minerals which, in common with GLME, derive from the natural content of sea water and are thus easily assimilated into the animal's digestive system.

Alginic acid, a natural component of kelp, provides the function of de-toxifying by binding to toxins in the gut and carrying them out of the body.

Thiamine Mononitrate

Thiamine, or Vitamin B1 is a very important water-soluble vitamin aiding the mechanisms involved in healthy metabolism. In SF4 its two main functions are to aid the digestion of the pharmacologically active carbohydrate components and to help maintain normal muscle tension.
